So why did we make the questionnaire/survey and why bother to take it?
One of the first things that I do as a Leadership Coach is to ask the executive being coached to take this short assessment, which primarily identifies their particular personality type by what I refer to as behaviour patterns. Discovering your own behavioural patterns is important because it may reveal to you some very important truths about your personality that you may not have been fully aware of before. In my experience it is these behaviours that impede and often sabotage your effectiveness as a leader. Building awareness of you’re the blind-spots in your personality is an important step in moving towards self-mastery and improving your skills and capabilities as a leader. In the guide that you will receive on your particular personality type you will discover some amazing truths about yourself as a leader including:
- Your key strengths
- Areas for development (weaknesses)
- Working relationships and your preferences
- Your approach to problem solving
- Your attitude to risk
- Your emotional hot buttons and what is likely to cause you stress and anxiety
But knowing your particular behaviour patterns in itself will be of no use to you unless you are given some specific actions to take as a result of the discovery you are about to make. This is why I will provide you with a specific set of achievable self-coaching suggestions to aid you in your professional development.
So what are behavioural drivers and why are they important?
Well, they were discovered by Taibi Kahler PhD, a clinical psychologist who carried out research into the various aspects of personality using some of the ideas derived from Transactional Analysis (TA). As part of his research he discovered what have become known as driver behaviours and what I refer to as behaviour patterns. These are automatic, repeatable and predictable behaviour patterns that can either be considered to be your core strength or your weakness. These patterns of behaviour are likely to show up when you undergo stress or find yourself in an anxious situation. There are five drivers and these are:
- Please Others
- Be Perfect
- Be Strong
- Hurry up
- Try Harder
So which driver behaviour is holding you back? Or do you have a bit of a mix going on? Go ahead now and complete the questionnaire; it will take under 10 minutes. Once you have completed the assessment I will personally score the assessment and email you within one business day with your results and a guide with some key suggestions to help you master this behaviour and turn what was a leadership weakness into a key strength.
Here's what a few other leaders said after taking the questionnaire
James Parry, Managing Director, FIJ Design
"I took this assessment and was not only shocked but amused by how accurate the results were, just from answering 25 questions! I also found the guide a useful tool to refer back to. A couple of us have taken the assessment now and help each other by spotting our behaviour patterns in each other"
Michael Hutton, Operations Director, FIJ Design
"Just had a good read through and kept chuckling to myself as I could relate to most of the results – very accurate. There were a couple of things that I wasn’t so sure about, but I would come to expect that – although, this has helped me question those elements, possibly wanting to explore these ‘issues’ deeper. Loads of useful information on there – more than I expected, which is great. I have emailed it to myself at home so I can have a good read through tonight."
"Sally", Quality Manager, FTSE Pharmaceutical Company
"The most impactful part of our thing that I got from our coaching was working through my behavioural patterns that you identified in the first session. I now understand my people pleasing tendencies even better and manage this part of my personality much better now. Most insightful"
Good luck and have fun discovering more about you.
